Jay and Silent Bob: Matt Damon è Loki nel reboot di Kevin Smith

Quasi 20 anni dopo aver interpretato se stesso in Jay and Silent Bob… Fermate Hollywood!, Matt Damon torna nei panni di uno dei suoi personaggi preferiti nel reboot

Come molti spettatori avranno indovinato, dopo aver visto il suo guardaroba nel trailer del reboot di Jay and Silent Bob, Matt Damon vestirà i panni di Loki, uno dei due angeli antagonisti in Dogma, commedia diretta da Kevin Smith nel 1999, che ha immediatamente preceduto Jay and Silent Bob… Fermate Hollywood! nel canon View Askewniverse. In quel film, Loki e il suo partner Bartleby (Ben Affleck) erano stati banditi dal Paradiso, ma cercavano di ritornare alla loro casa attraverso una scappatoia concessa dalla Chiesa Cattolica.

Perché ciò li rendeva dei villain? La questione è un po’ complicata, ma, in sintesi, l’idea di base era che contrastare la volontà di Dio, in quel modo particolare, avrebbe causato la distruzione del mondo. Entro la fine del film, Bartleby e Loki vengono uccisi. Il film è stato notevole perché, anche se Jay e Silent Bob hanno avuto ruoli piuttosto minori nei primi tre film di Smith, i due hanno interpretato un ruolo molto più importante in Dogma, tanto da convincere Smith a realizzare un film basato interamente su Jay e Silent Bob. Loki, però, è morto; nonostante ciò, Matt Damon tornerà a interpretare il personaggio nel reboot… Com’è possibile? Naturalmente, l’ha spiegato Kevin Smith.

Come evidenzia Kevin Smith, l’inclusione di Loki significa che i personaggi (che affiancheranno Jay e Bob) di Clerks – Commessi (il Dante Hicks di Brian O’Halloran), Generazione X (Brodie Bruce di Jason Lee), In cerca di Amy (Holden McNeil di Ben Affleck e Alyssa Jones di Joey Lauren Adams), Dogma (Loki), e Clerks II (la Becky di Rosario Dawson)  appariranno tutti nel film, seguendo effettivamente le storie e i personaggi di ogni film del View Askewniverse che Smith abbia mai realizzato.

Curiosamente, la versione di Matt Damon nei panni di Loki, rappresenta anche un’altra sorta di ritorno al ruolo del villain MCU: se ricordate, Damon ha vestito i panni di un attore che interpretava Loki in Thor: Ragnarok.

If you’ve seen the @jayandsilentbob trailer (link in my bio) then you know #mattdamon came back! Matty was part of the fun in #jayandsilentbobstrikeback so when we started #JayAndSilentBobReboot, we reached out to Matt to see if he wanted to return to the scene of the crime. When he confirmed, I started thinking about how to best use good Will Hunting and which role he could play. Then @jenschwalbach suggested “Why don’t you use him as Loki?” I scoffed like a hardcore Kevin Smith fan, replying “I can’t play with Loki. Loki died.” Jen smiled and said “Well it’s a good thing you don’t know the writer, or else you might be able to change your idea.” And just like that, my wife made the movie better. I asked costume designer @ruckusaurus to put together a Loki-looking ensemble, found a church, and broke out my life size Dogma action figure. And with that, I was able to do mini-sequels to *all* my #viewaskew flicks in the middle of #jayandsilentbobreboot! Wanna see how it all comes together?
