Il pensiero di Jeffrey Dean Morgan si apre con un avviso di spoiler rivolto a chi non fosse in pari con The Walking Dead 8 e anche noi teniamo a sottolineare che quanto segue contiene anticipazioni sugli eventi più recenti della serie AMC. Se avete seguito assiduamente lo show, saprete come Carl, interpretato da Chandler Riggs sia stato morso da uno zombie nel finale di metà stagione. Il pubblico era consapevole che il destino del ragazzo fosse segnato, ma vedere la sua dipartita su schermo nell’ultimo episodio ha comunque avuto un effetto devastante sui fan, che nutrivano ancora qualche speranza dopo le parole di Robert Kirkman.

Anche le star dello show sono rimaste particolarmente scosse e fra queste vi è Jeffrey Dean Morgan, che su Instagram ha condiviso una foto che lo ritrae assieme a Chandler Riggs scrivendo di aver adorato lavorare con il giovane attore, che definisce un “ragazzo incredibile.” L’interprete di Negan afferma di essere sempre stato un fan di The Walking Dead, colpito soprattutto dall’evoluzione di Carl da ragazzino a uomo. Una delle ragioni per cui Morgan ha accettato il ruolo nella serie è proprio perché apprezzava il rapporto fra il suo personaggio e Carl nei fumetti. A ogni modo, la star trova conforto nella consapevolezza che Riggs continuerà a essere impegnato nel mondo di cinema e TV, dando prova di essere diventato un “fantastico giovane uomo” e un “potente attore.”

You, my friend, are an incredible young man. Well before joining this cast I was a fan… a fan that loved watching you grow up in front of a camera. From the moment you first put on the way too large sheriffs hat as a boy… to the end, the hat so befitting of the man Carl had become. Wiser and more compassionate than all of us. You held all of our hearts. Honestly… a huge reason I wanted so badly to join this band of misfits… was because I was such a fan of the Negan Carl relationship in the comics… that storyline was one of my favorites, as I know it was one of yours. I’ll forever be dissaponted we only scratched the surface of what could have been. BUT… I can take total solace in the fact that you are out there… doing your thing. You’ve grown into an amazing young man as well as a powerful actor… the world is your oyster Riggs. We all get to sit back and watch you kill it. So.. know you are missed on the show… but know you have a big ole group of family all here for you if needed… and eagerly awaiting whatever comes next. Love you Riggs. See you soon.
